Article 12 is a social-issue documentary that adopts the twelfth article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UN 1946) to chart privacy issues worldwide today. The film brings together the world’s leading academics, cultural figures and technologists to highlight the devastating potency of surveillance and the dangers of complicity, delivering a powerful wake-up call as we sleepwalk into a surveillance society.
Transfer Studio has been working closely with the independent producers of the film since the early script stage, in developing an imaginative and compelling communication and outreach strategy and bringing a high quality original approach to an independent film production, offering a valuable advantage in the challenging film industry.
Starting from naming and funding tools, through to strategic planning, art direction and design, our work has delivered a coherent identity that permeates all aspects of the production and engages with, present, and define content across a number of platforms. Our close involvement in the production has meant the film went from idea to fully funded production and we've been able to identify key opportunities to raise the quality of the film such as a 8-min stand alone motion graphics segment within the film, art direction of the visual effects as well as the movie titling, while delivering the design and backbone of the entire project.
Article 12 had its world premiere at Locarno Film Festival 2010, screened as part of Settimana della Critica (Critics' Week), an exclusive and special selection of films presented for the purpose of provoking debate and opening up new perspectives of awareness and approach.
The reaction to the film has been hugely positive, the screenings all packing the audience seats and next the film will be available for a well-anticipated international festival run.
